I'm dickering on a 280 in a local gunshop. One hangup I have is that nasty looking factory Trueglow front bead. To my taste the durned thing looks like it belongs on something Bruce Willis would stick in his waistband in the next "Kill 'em all" movie. The shop THINKS it can be removed and replaced with a normal bead. Anyone out there done this or know? Looks to have been permanently attached to me.

Yes, it can be replaced. I had a smaller bead put on mine.

I had one years ago; the first thing I did was remove the True-glo site and replace it with an ivory bead.

I think they can be removed without damage to the gun. If you like the gun, you might want to try and shoot it with the sight on it before you have it removed. You might like it. Good luck.

JayCee--thanks for the typo correction, to the others, I appreciate the advice. Knowing my luck I'll shoot the IthAca better with the ugly a@@ front sight and will have to learn to live with it.

I have had an Ithaca SKB 200E since the mid 70s and shoot it as well as anything I own. Anyone who has shot it has hit with it. Try it, you'll like it.

Just for trivia's sake, I believe it was called a Raybar sight. My 37 had one and I liked it.

The Truglo and the Raybar on the Ithaca Model 37s are different. The Truglo is about two inches long. I think some of them just snap over the rib and snap right off.
