My AyA 453 has a sticky auto safety (doesn't go back all the way when the top lever is moved to the right unless the lever is pressed really hard and fast). I plan to remove the stock to clean, lube or see why it is sticky (maybe rubbing wood or gunked up). My question: is it necessary to remove both screws for the trigger plate and bottom plate to remove the stock, or just the rear, trigger plate screw? I'm sure it will be obvious when I dig in, but I prefer to know in advance. I could just call NECG who does warranty work on them, but I figured with all the knowledge here, someone would know. (I'm aware of how to remove the trigger guard and tang screws). Thanks in advance! Joe

Joe, I'm pretty sure you'll remove the bottom plate to remove the trigger plate.

Good cure for the automatic safety would be to convert it to manual. Adults use guns like this every day.

Jim, if you have nothing helpful to offer, perhaps you should not post at all. Whether I convert the safety to manual (1/2 my guns are manual safety) or keep it automatic, I'LL STILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE BUTTSTOCK (or do you know a way to do it without removing the stock!). Please read the question before you offer your opinions; I did not ask how many "adults" use manual safeties!!! Now, does anyone know anything about the actual question? P.S. Yeti, thank you for the help. Joe

I don't think the PMs work.

If the stock is not held on by a through-bolt, you will surely have to remove the trigger guard and trigger plate. Probably also the sears. To determine if it has a through-bolt, remove the buttplate or recoil pad. If there's no hole, there is no through-bolt. It probably is not a through-bolt style.

Joe, to remove the stock you'll have to remove trigger plate, bottom plate, the screw under the lever and the through screw under the trigger guard. I am almost sure there is no through bolt in that gun. At least this was the case with some boxlock Ugartecheas I took apart.

Jim and JC, thank you for the help. No, the gun does not have a through-bolt (the stock is held on by the 2 tang screws). Jim, my intention was to convey annoyance, not snottiness (is that a word?). When I saw you had posted, I was excited at the prospect of some help. Then when I read what the post said, I was disappointed and thought it sort of smart alec and perhaps somewhat condescending, but not at all useful to answering my question. Now I realize you were being humerous. Sometimes it's really hard to get the intentions of what people write on the internet! I've enjoyed your other comments on this board. Respectfully, Joe Bernfeld
