I have a double barrel shotgun that is marked AD Jansen Fabricant D' Armes no one barrel and DE S.M. Le Roi. Bruxelles, it's very nice, is engraved, double triggers with ejectors, nice chekering, 12 Gauge, straight stock and is marked 2 in gold on the lever and the rib of the barrle near the reciever. The gun is in very good condition, with plenty of case color and blueing is very strong - Looks like it's seen very little use. I'd like to know what exactly it is and approximate value. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Scott

Certainly appears you have a Belgian gun. Why don't you either post pics. or copy down the markings on the barrel flats and the water table and I'm sure you will find out more.

Scott,

It would help if you posted pictures. The gun is Belgian. Here are the proof marks and maker's marks:

Janssen was a family of gun makers. Here is a bit about them:

Scott,

A very nice gun. It would help if you could provide some clearer pictures of the markings.

How long are the barrels and how much does the gun weigh? It looks like it may be a pigeon gun from the side clips and third fastener. I'm guessing 29 1/2" and more than 7 1/4 pounds. If it were made for an Italian shooter, it may have 28" barrels.

The 12 in the diamond is a pre-1924 mark. The Date of Proof letters started in 1922.
18.4 is the bore in mm 22 cm from the breech = .724"
17.8 is the choke = .701"
The 1 K xxx is the barrel weight after smokeless proof
The spangled letters are controller's (inspector's) marks
