If the bbls are good - thick walls, in proof, not dents, dings, bulges, etc - I'd say it's worth $2 -2500. I'm assuming it's an ejector gun.

Quality wise, it's probably better than a lot of guns costing far more than $2500. Heck, it's probably better than American stuff costing $20,000.

The problem is that it was made in Belgium by someone few Americans know.

Check out this Francotte for a comparison:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/conten...erarchyId=11653

That gun looks like it's in the same category as yours and it's a Francotte - a name guys know and want. That makes a big difference.

Without a name, Belgian stuff can be real hard to move.

That Francotte is a screamer at the posted price. If I needed another shotgun, it would be at my house.

It appears that the "Belgian Betsy" at Cabela's was designed to digest std. US game load, so it's suitable for local pheasant/crow and street pigeon shootin' (where legally allowed of course). The price is fair especially if one likes copious amount of checkering. On the negative side the choke combo kinda makes second barrel redundant. If I was to spend 3k on another piece it would be copiously engraved ole' Remi or Ithaca pump.

It appears you found piece capable of very hard shootin' right down to clips and lever fore-end fastener. I would say it's a nice $1600 gun.

Both guns are boxlocks. Not 100% sure on the Jansen, but small number for length to height ratio of plate dimension suggests that the gun is of box configuration.

This gun bears the EW* mark of Emile Warnant who was in business from 1905 to 1934 and likely made that gun for Janssen.

What Siemen's steel stamp is on the barrel flats and what is the patent number(Francotte - 1882?) on the standing breech?

Kind Regards,
