Come this January, there could be bumblebee size drones flying around the insides of your guncabinet(make that vaults for the advanced collector eh) taking pictures of your soon to be illegal stuff. Remember, the revolution needs a shinny bore, so put a cork in your pitted junk. Don't want no drone buzzing down that barrel!

Gee, do you think he can keep that "Old European? Shotgun" come this January? PS. I would not worry about Jan. just look how them black rifles and hicap pistolas are flying off shop shelves. Matter of fact, one guy came in couple of days ago and spent over 6k on that stuff.

My opinion: in the old days before the "black rifles and pistols" gunshows were largely unmolested by the govt. Anyone could see the sporting function and beauty of a Savage 99, a Winchester 94 or Mod. 70. There was no need for "Streetsweepers" of any other of the Military-oriented hardware. In one sense we have brought this headache on ourselves. The gun shows are now full of this military style s--t. I did not vote for Obama but held my nose as I pulled the lever for McCain (bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb bomb Iran). A loose cannon if ever there was one. Anyhow, I don't think Obama will be threatening the 2nd Amendment. There are enough problems he will inherit from Bush --- the worst Pres. of my 72 year lifetime. And I have been a Goldwater republican ever since Barry wrote Conscience of a Conservative. Chopperlump

Well Chopper Lump (The Purdey- not a "chopper" as in Sturgis S.D. in mid-August, right?) Just went to the recent issue of Gun Digest- under Savage- see where ol' "Laurel and Hardly" aka- Dick and Craig have three of the 1920-1940 era M99's in the take-down version For sale- all into 4 figures. One sounds like the one I will have for sale on this forum, omce I get the "Green Light" from ol' Davey Boy-this is a double gun forum, right. 1921 by serial number in 30-30 20" barrel, schnabel forearm, original sights plus a factory installed Marbles tang mounted peep-folds up, folds down, your choice- unaltered, no QD's or drill and tap for a scope-original steel buttplate with the Savage Indian -Head (again, not a 1939 Indian Chief-great bike, but NOT a Harley)--logo at the toe section, bore like a mirror, has of course the brass window shell counter and the top tang cocking indiocator (like the early NID's) and for a rifle that ain't a pre-1964 (actually I prefer and own pre-1950 Model 70's- not too shabby a trigger pull. Shows blueing and carry wear, but no rust or gouges in the stock(s) group, threads on the barrel are MINT- and it locks up nice and snug. Advise if you are interested. RWTF

RWTF: old and crippled up as I am (had complete left knee joint replaced with iron and plastic), I can still drool over a M99 such as you have. But never having killed a deer in my 72 years, if the opportunity presented itself I reckon I'd be doing it with my trusty old Win. 97 since in the Peoples' Republic of Illinois slugs only are allowed. Your gun sounds lovely. Chopperlump
