I traded for a high grade waterfowling gun that the previous owner said came from the Eastern Shore. The name on it is G. Wilcke Stuttgart. It is a hammer gun two barrel, two gauge, set
both numbered to the gun. It has 32" 8ga. damascus barrel set and 28" 10ga. damascus barrel set. The reciever and hammers are 100% scroll engraved. It looks to be very nice fiddleback wood
under a darken old varnish. It is a very high grade gun by today standards. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this maker. I assume its german. Thanks.

Could be Stuttgart, Arkansas. The waterfowl capital of the Mississippi Flyway.

Would oblige us with some pics? From what little I know about it, a German 8 bore is a pretty rare bird and a 2 barrel set must be a sight to behold. Any marks to give the source of the tubes? I'll agree with you that it came from Germany.

Kind Regards,

Welcome to the board. We're all excited to see pictures. Sounds like one heckuva gun. I have a couple of 8 gauges as well - but none in the same league as your new aquisition.

I have a Wilcke BLE that is a self opener. It is decorated to the highest standard with horn drop points etc. My research has turned up no information that Wilcke actually made guns, or in fact, that he was just a retailer. I know he must have sold lower grade guns, too, as there is one on one of the internet auctions that has been for sale for ever.
