Well, I had plenty of time to chase the wood birds this year. Although it has tight chokes, I put many hours on this gun. It took the rain, sleet, and snow as well as the dog and myself. I do regret the further rust and some missed birds. I like to imagine the former owner with a big smile, he put some miles on this gun as well. I've turned over (sold/profited) a few guns without taking any game with them and it haunts me.

Old 41, low no.! What did you have to repair/replace? Nice mess/clutch/brace+ of woodcock! Which brings out that old teaser: What does a woodcock like that Martin Luther did not? Answer: The Diet of Worms. Very feathery dog; what is he/she? Bird to left looks a bit like the Montauk Monster.

Jack, nothing, just rubbed off the old dried up oil and blood and started shooting birds. Yes, it is likely the 3rd earliest documented by those who care.... oddballs. It has some interesting scratchings that don't show up. The poor birds get roughed up a bit when put in my shooting pouch along with the water bottles and such. She... is a griffon, and the 'feathers' wear off during the season, that's what the wireyness is for.

Thanks Jerry, she points way more birds than I can legally shoot with my sorrowful old guns and she puts up with my mediocrity.

Nice work, R.R. I acquired a SAC Grade 0 with "new twist" barrels a few months ago. Despite not having what are typically called "shootable" dimensions I shoot it the best of all my guns and took my first 'doodle with it this Fall. Continue enjoying your classic!
