Ah, it's a great time of the year to be sure! Woolens have made way for robe and slippers for most, and that fall hunting gun has now turned into a winter's rare piece. Words like pristine, original and un-touched will fill the airwaves - serial numbers and barrel markings will call for Sherlockian study. Gentlemen get a grip on your smoking pipe, and just maybe, "Run With the Fox" can start us out with some Annette Funicello movie trivia - something he does best.

Well in Texas quail season doesnt end until February 22nd. In the South of Texas there is a dove season that starts tomorrow and ends the 13th of next month. Duck ends January 29th. There is a "White Goose" season that goes well into March. Sandhill Crane goes until February 8. Pheasant season in the Panhandle is open until the 4th of January. There are three Texas counties where you can hunt them til February 22.
Kansas pheasant is open until January 31st, as is the quail season. Didn't check the waterfowl seasons.
New Mexico's quail season runs until February 15. Didn't check their migratory bird seasons.
Oklahom's quail season runs through February 15. Didn't check their migratory bird seasons.
And I am going after Bobs on the Salt Fork of the Red tomorrow. And headed to hunt the Mulberry Saturday. And may try to make another trip up to LastDollar's country for pheasant before the end of next month. And Joe Wood is going to get fatter and even more out of shape if I don't get him out pretty quick - maybe up to the Northern Panhandle for some Pheasant?
Hell, it is just barely half over!
And as long as I am bragging anyway - my Sweety made an excellent breakfast of quail and dumplings this morning
And Merry Christmas.
Best,
Mike

Yep, it's the season for ole' Austrio-Hungerian multi-barrel stuff with "acorn" proofs. I believe Silent Night, Holly Night originated in Austria. Cuckoo clock, tined cookies from Aachen (the can could be wound up to play Christmas tune),..... Viering is very Chrismasy.

My poor M/F tractor suffers winters under a tarp - but the ol'bugger is still a tickin'. The season has just about run it's course with me, but if a warm day happens, me and my Cooper will keep an eye out for some of those ol'crows.

Thorny, Bring your snoeshoes-we have another week of season for grouse and pheasants. Only the toughest birds and hunters are out there now, and Pine county is deep in the white stuff. The last trip to Lincoln county, MN for roosters featured about 5 degree temps and gusts to 50 MPH or so, quite cold, but the birds are out there. My setter is in heat, so I'll be alone on the prarie this weekend. No sense confusing my buddy's young GSP. Best, Ted

Arm-chair season?...We're just getting started good here in south GA! Deer season, which started in September, won't end till January 15th. Dove is open till Jan 10th or so, and duck through the end of Jan. Quail, rabbit and squirrel go till the end of February. We'll be releasing kick'em-up quail till turkey season comes in the latter part of March. Most of the time I envy you yankees, but this time of year is what I love about the South...Geo

WTF is so funny about Annette's Cello? If it ain't a Steinway Baby Grand, or a Martin HD-28, or I ain't interested.
The Massa's in de barn- How 'bout dat o' Ferguson? Only a low-life like you would have a POS red tractor with the initials M-F (stands for what you are, Slick).
You talk about your gal friend Annette FunnyCello- Ok, if you still think Gary Cooper is around for you to hunt crows with, must be some strange weed in your bong-- I like to shoot crows-- take the 3 shot plug out of a Model 12-use some AA Trap reloads- have a Johnny Stewart electronic caller, and they have a similar flight characteristic to Canada geese- when approaching and they decide to "flare" they actually back pedal in the wind-tough shooting.
I even have old Burt Popowski's 1940 book on Crow Shootin'- fun to read- very few guys bother with crows around here anymore-but I "cut 'em a big ol' dusty" whenever I can-
