I have a problem with my Charles Daley 20 ga not cocking after the first shot. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith for repair of the lock?

If your gun is one made by Miroku, here is a site that might help: http://www.wisnersinc.com/additionalinfo/Mirokusprings.html
They don't claim to offer repair services but you could e-mail them and possibly get pointed in the right direction. The way your question is worded it makes me think you may have a single trigger that is not setting up for the second shot, rather than "not cocking". If my guess is correct, it might just be the inertia mechanism is gummy and sticking.

Hands down the guy you want to work on your Japanese Miroku is Cole Haugh of Milan Indiana. Someone here might have his current number as I know he had changed location last year, I believe.

KenL

This forum continues to amaze in terms of breadth of knowledge and willingness to help. Jim Legg's referral on parts is dead on target. By recollection, Wenig's site contains instructions, parts, diagrams, etc. I have an early Miroku, too, not needing anything, but was relieved when I found Wenig's site a couple/three years ago - - -by asking a question similar to your's, of course.

Tim - solid endorsement on Cole Haugh. What did he do for you?

Assuming you're talking a Miroku Daly OU--and very few Miroku Daly sxs had single triggers--they often had a problem with broken springs. However, they use leaf springs rather than coil, and I think if a leaf spring breaks, it will be a constant rather than intermittent problem.

KenL,
To remove the buttstock and check to see if the safety mechanism is gummed up as well suggested by Jim;
+ Remove the buttplate, and with a long big flathead screwdriver remove the stock throughbolt,
+ Remove the triggerguard from the stock with a perfect fitting screwdriver, the triggerguard pivots forward on a hinge - not unscrews from the frame like most others.
