I bought a gun with 2 1/2" chambers at the Las Vegas show last weekend and when I arrived home I ordered some RST shells for it. Now, I would like to reload 2 1/2". I'll use a MEC Sizemaster with the 2 1/2" kit but I need a recipe. Does anybody do this? Do you just cut 1/4" off AAs? What powder? What wad? Any help will be appreciated or, if I'm in the wrong forum, send me elsewhere. Thanks.

Many of us with older guns in good condition, but with short chambers, use low pressure reloads in 2 3/4" hulls. Unless you just like the nostalga of short hulls, they seem to work just fine. Remember, low pressure for the metal and light recoil for the wood and shooter. Look for loads in the 7/8 oz and 1100 fps range with pressures of 7000 psi or lower. Mosyt reload tables for shotguns have such.

I hunt with 12ga low pressure, 1100fps range 2 3/4-inch reloads in shorter chambers with recipes from the powder manuals, usually an ounce but no more than 1 1/8 ounce with satisfactory results. Bismuth provides pellet-count of approximately 1 1/4 ounce load.

If you are going to cut AA or STS hulls down I can send you a picture of a slide I made to use on a table saw that cuts them off 10 at a time.

If you are going to use a 2 3/4 inch hull there is a load suing PB powder that is in the bag of Claybuster Lightening wads. These loads develop 5600 P.S.I. and are very comfortable.
