Can you effectively "bend" a Beretta over/under stock by removing wood at the receiver, instead of bending it?

What direction are you wanting it "bent"? Cast would be hard, drop not as bad. Either way, I would just bend it. Steve

I have heard of this being done in Michael Yardleys Gun Fitting Book, but you would have to be very careful. Also the amount of cast you need has to be looked at. If it is a lot you would probably be better off having it bent. A bend to a stock can be altered at a later time to someone elses demensions if you ever sell it. However, any wood removal can't be other than removing wood on the opposing side, and this can be very trickey and expensive which will lower the value of your gun if you sell it. If it is price of bending you are concerned about, it does not cost as much as some think.

Re-heading the stock at receiver can be a very effective way to solve problems of cast, drop and pitch. Talk with Bob James (and only Bob) at Montana Long Guns in Polson Montana. http://www.mtlongguns.com/Bob's been doing this kind of work for more years than he'll admit, and I've seen his magic work for more than one shooter who otherwise might have just opted to bend wood.

I "had" a Beretta with the "Xtra" wood. I only wish I had this idea before I took a bath on it.
When I brought the gun, the store manager told me to "shoot" it first and then he would easily be able to bend the Xtra wood stock after I was sure I needed it bent. After I shot the gun, he told me it couldn't be bent because of the xtra wood lamination. And, I couldn't return it because I had already shot the gun. It cost me about $500.00 to get out from under that gun.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.
