It has been many months since I have been on this forum, it is a long and unpleasant story, I am about to begin liquidating some of my guns because of which. I am about to list (here of course) my AyA #2, 12 gauge, cased with maker's label, at least 95% condition, straight stock, and nicely figured wood. I have no idea what a reasonable number is for this gun, not wanting to be over optimistic, yet I don't want to give it away either.
Thank you in advance for your help, I may need it again, hopefully not.
Steve

I wish I could help you on value and am messaging only to say that life seems fickle and indifferent and a life worth living is what we bring to it through acts of creativity and love. Not wanting to burden us with the unpleasant story says you're working your way through it. Have faith and pursue the unknown end. Good to see you back.

Steve, the new ones (minus case) are going for about $45-4600. Maybe somewhere mid to high $3K range, leaving you some room to bargain? gunsinternational.com is always a good place to compare what dealers are asking. Good luck.

Year of manufacture and barrel length are factors of value.

Round body would make a difference. Really clean used guns that are fairly common seem to actually sell for about 2/3 of new cost, so about $3k. Might need to take less based on current economic conditions. Prices seem to be softening on everything that is not absolutely top end.

Unfortunately, the economic situation for sellers is not good right now. A year or two ago, a clean AyA #2 would have fetched over $4000. I paid $4250 for my used 16 ga. Arrieta 578 two years ago. But in today's market prices are dropping significantly. A very clean 16 ga. Arrieta 557 w/29" barrels and great wood sold here 6 months ago for $3500. There is another currently for sale at $3650 and the price keeps dropping because the seller is unable to move it. Over on Shotgunworld.com (Spanish guns section), a user just picked up 2 pristine 12 ga. AyA #2s (one with 26" and another with 28" barrels) for $2000 each. These were the traditional models w/drop points. They are beautiful guns.
I would like to think that your gun will sell around the $3000-$3600 range, but if you need the cash quickly you may have to sell it for less than $3000.
Best of luck,
David

Welcome back Steve. Sorry you are having to sell the guns - another day you'll have the pleasure of buying replacements, I'm sure.
I sold a 1976 AYA No2 last year for £1,100. It had 100% colour hardening, no case and 26" barrels. It had seen little use but had been stored, so wood finish and blacking were a little dulled from storage. That should give you a starting point for reference.
All the best,
Dig
