The dent could be hammered down and dressed with a fine file. I believe that a 75% reduction of the mark could be had with that method. To get the last 25% you may have to TIG weld the tiny remaining mark and touch up the blue. IF you turn this into a DIY project use a harden polished rod to make the actual contact at the dent.

K. Eversull advertises in Shooting Sportsman, and may be able to do this. You might call him (318-793-8728). Also perhaps J. David Yale (970-562-4225) who's in Colorado, where I assume you are (unless that's just your name).

Thank you for the input Gents,

David Yale is in Yellow Jacket CO, has a good rep. I have heard of Eversull as well. I am waiting on UPS now, the gun is at my FFL awaiting them to look at it. UPS actually called my FFL to set an appointment. So, I am a little antsy but it is a fine piece. Hopefully I dont have to return it to the seller.

Great, even better, that is only 34 miles from here....

I am being told to keep the gun with the FFL and not accept it, sent UPS photos today of the box and the barrel, the box has no damage other than a puncture corresponding to the location of the damage on the barrel......seller had it insured but UPS may deny the claim due to "inadequate packaging"

Poor packaging is a standard UPS ploy! I had NSTA certified packaging and they still fought. The UPS Rep. almost hurt himself trying to prove we had bad product. He swung a hammer at it and the hammer came back and almost hit him. They can be a real chicken sxxx group to deal with.

I have had a bad experience with David Yale. I wouldn't let him fix my bicycle. Others here have reported the same. Food for thought. Bob

I was originally referred to David by Robin Hollow Outfitters and have used him several times since. Always had nothing but meticulous and timely work from his shop. No one does a better leather covered pad than David's wife.

I guess any smith can occasionally fall short of the mark.

I'll bet that could be mostly tapped out. You would still see it. To fix it totally correctly, it would seem you would go to tig, dress it down. But then you would need to reblue.
Bill: Why wouldn't it be tigged with a regular soft rod?
