Ben, The rifles book is:

And I am reluctant to even mention it because I only have about a half dozen left of the original printing of 2000 soft cover copies in 1999. I'm going to sell these last few for the exorbitant price of $100 each (Ken had no idea!). I'm in no hurry to see them go. There are lots of B&W photos of 40 American custom rifle from the decade of the 1990's. Others can tell you their thoughts.

I bought 2 'cause I had given my first copy to the son of a friend. I ain't givin' up the second copy!

IMO the only way it could possibly be improved is if the next one is in color. The other rifle books simply don't compare.
Regards, Joe

Joe talked me into buying one. I've only had it a few months but it's already showing signs of use. Stays by the bedside.

I've got another Custom Rifles book completly written, mostly color (what a title, Custom Rifles In Color!) and quite a few color pix of the guns in this one. All I need is an enthusiastic and trustworthy publisher.
Thanks Jerry & J.D.!

Steve,

I hope you find a publisher soon.

By the way, Spring Migration is getting underway here in the South. The first Warblers are showing up and it's hard to go for a walk without getting the Warbler wryneck. Just thought you'd like to know.

I truly hope you get a publisher. I would be good for at least 1 copy. I have all your books and they have really opened my eyes to the possibilities in my own work.

Thanks Brad & Jerry, don't hold your breath on the Color book, It will be a while...years most likely.

Warblers were just gettting to south TX when I was there last March-April. Mt.Bluebirds have just arrived here in time for 8" new snow and single digit night time temps. (Petrov can trump any whine I might have.) Will be headed to Freezeout Lake to see spring snow geese in a couple of weeks, up to 300,000 WOW! Have only seen them during hunting season.

You can have the snow geese, though a few Ross woud be OK. So many down here in winter we call them winged rats. Huge rice fields white with geese. 40 years ago it wasn't like this.

Used to go to Brownsville for early migration many years ago then on to Cameron Parish in April to see the arrivals from across the Gulf.

Hunting with binoculars means no closed season, no bag limit and you don't have to clean the catch.

Black and white warbler just behind the hospital at lunch.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who likes to watch birds. I have been getting a sore neck looking at warblers since I was 9 years old and wondering what kind of birds those were in the tall oaks in the Maryland forest. They still mystify me as so many are hard to identify.I want to see a Blackburnian before I die.
