Hi all
And thank you Uncle John (Mann).
Maybe just to introduce myself - My name is Cobus Roos. I live in sunny South Africa, and I am a professional hunter/outfitter. I've been hunting for almost 41yesrs now - yeah, I only turn 48 this year, and successfully hunted my first animal at the tender age of 7. My decision to become a professional hunter was an easy one.
I have a HUGE passion for nature and all its inhabitants. We all know (on a forum like this) that hunting is not just about the killing of an animal, but more so about the time spend in nature. Being in the hunting industry gives me the luxury of spending a lot more time in the bush that I love so dearly. Like the old guru, Peter Hathaway-Capstick (RIP) once said :- we do not hunt to kill, but eventually kill to have hunted. I think most, if not all, will agree that success of a hunt is not measured by the number of animals you killed, but by how much you enjoyed your time in nature.
I love nature, I love hunting and I absolutely love firearms. To those who criticize my love for firearms, and claims that they kill, I have a very simple answer :- no firearm has ever killed! Only people kill. If a killer does not have access to a firearm, he/she will use something else to do the killing .... an axe, a knife, a baseball bat, a golf club, a brick, a stone ... or whatever his/her fancy might be.
So, bring on all the talk about firearms. Take out your guns and shoot them. No hunter or legal owner of a firearm used for legal purposes has anything to be ashamed of. Lets take pride in this love of ours, and defend it fiercely whenever anyone criticizes us.
I am a legal firearm owner. I use my firearms responsibly and for legal purposes. And I am damn proud of it!
Regards
Cobus
