There is an interesting gun in nice condition on Gunbroker. It is a Nichols and Lefever Hammergun made in Cazanovia, NY. Does anyone have any history on this maker?

There is a thread about this gun on the Lefever Forum. I am currently the high bidder. Nichols & Lefever history is in Elliott's "Uncle Dan Lefever - Master Gunmaker".

No, I'm actually hoping people will respect my position. We're already well above the reserve, so the seller would seem to be happy at the level the bidding has reached.

But, I wanted to answer the question about the gun, as they don't come along very often. I bought a John Nichols gun first announced on this site a few weeks ago.

This is a very interesting gun and relatively rare, as not very many were made. The seller's claim that this is"obviously a higher grade gun in incorrect. It is an "E" grade, the lowest one made. Still an attractive bit of Lefever history and I hope you get it.
