I remember a discussion some time ago about baize being the lining of choice in the old gun cases. Can someone refresh my memory - is baize a variation of felt, the proper name for felt, or something entirely different? The search feature goes back only one year.

The original baize was made from wool. Here is the website of Abimelech Hainsworth in England who have been supplying baize to the gun trade in England for about 200 years. This is the original baize! They are very nice to deal with. I have bought baize from them and have well pleased with it. Here is their website.
