I was told that there is a gentleman in the USA who makes kits that allow one to build a fine replica of an Alexander Henry single barrel muzzleloading rifle. The barrels even have Henry rifling. Does anyone have his address or website?

LD1, I have posted the query over on the American Longrifle forum under "Gun Building" ( http://www.americanlongrifles.org/forum/ ) You might check there over the next several days for answers. I do remember a gentleman in the Northwest who was producing the rifles and kits many years ago--Don Brown comes to this feeble mind. Don't know if he is still doing it--or even around. FYI, the British Enfield Volunteer .451 rifle sold by Dixie Gun Works has Henry rifling and the barrel is made by Parker Hale in England. Incredibly accurate guns, especially with long range sights. I've taken a number of deer and elk with mine using a 492 grain slug.

Track of the wolf has a couple of kits for English muzzle loaders, google them for their website.

Joe is remembering correctly. It was Don Brown, of Oregon I believe. I corresponded with him for awhile, back when I was shooting m/l rifles a lot. He was very big on the Forsyth principle of using a large bore, round ball. He really liked .62 caliber as I recall, but shot some of even larger bore. Biggest rifle I have is a .54 I built in '83.

LD1, I recall that the parts contained in his kits were of high quality, including the barrels. Sorry I don't have any contact info for you.

The gentleman you were asking about was indeed Don Brown of Yakima Washington. He sadly passed the end of February. I am his son-in-law.
He spent the last 20 or so years re-creating the Alexander Henry Long range sporting target rifle. He offered kits as well as finished rifles. There are a few kits left that can be assembled with his parts and the help of a man who assisted him over the years, a skilled craftsman himself. Feel free to contact me for further information as I am involved in selling off the tooling and molds and tools and remaining parts for the Alexander Henry rifle.
