Thanks, I found the auction just fine. With all due respect to John and because I may have a conflict of interest with this rifle I will say that anyone bidding on it had darn better do some research.

Whoo. IMO a hodgepodge of dates and features and not Kornbrath.
If I were a shotgun person I would like 77, a Darne in 28 ga.

Engraving appears identical to that on Mauser shown at p. 42 of Fred Adolph's well known catalog "Modern Guns." The catalog is undated but I have seen 1912 and 1920 claimed as its year of publication. Typical German journeyman quality, IMO rifle would look better without it.

The stock shape is a euro style on a springfield rifle. The engraving and checkering on the stock was very very nice. Dont know if you can see that in the picture. Very fine per inch checkering, points were like fine pin points with no depth to the cuts.

I was going to say it looked like Adolph carving/checkering panel at the action but the photo wasn't good enought to even guess.

So the upshot is a cooler rifle that any Sedgely?

To take a guess, perhaps a Fred Adolph rifle made circa 1919 later barreled to Hornet (ammo introduced January 1931 by Winchester) by Sedgely (which first offered 1903 Hornets in late 1931). It would be interesting to know whether it is a repeater or single shot. I have never examined an early Sedgely Hornet but after the Winchester 54 came out in that calibre in early 1933 Sedgely used Winchester 54 Hornet magazine parts inside the 1903 magazine box.
