I shot sporting clays last Sunday with the Army & Navy hammer side lever double I just bought from Heritage Guns. It's damascus and I loaded double A hulls with the Win gray wads for 7/8 oz shot using 12.7 grains of Win Lite powder. Supposed to be 5,500 PSI. The gun and loads worked great. Very little recoil but the targets broke just fine. I was shooting pretty well until the last station when I decided to switch to my Win Model 21. I broke two targets. I shot the station over with the Army & Navy and broke 8 targets. It was great fun and I love that old gun. Next, it's time to try my 1934 double trigger Superposed that I just got back together after engraving by Angelo Bee and new wood from Wenig.

I usually shoot at Moore-N-Moore but last Sunday I went to a shoot up near Cuyama at a place called Harrington Farms. It's on Highway 33 about 15 miles north of the Lockwood Valley Road out of Frazier Park. It's a fun but not difficult course. Costs $50 including a great BBQ lunch. That was my first time but I will certainly go back even though it takes about 2 hours to get there. The weekend before I went to the Southern SXS in North Carolina so a two hour drive is not so bad.
Regards.

I shoot Sporting Clays quite a lot with my Damascus HammerGuns. Either light European 2 3/4x1 loads or 19 gr. Pb with 1 oz shot.
Much more fun and little if any fewer broken targets

Michael Harris representing the LCSCA and Dr John Truitt for PGCA at The Southern Hammergun Challenge Shoot Off. Michael won with a 24/25 when Dr Truitt's Parker turned into an auto-opener

Here I sit reading this having just boxed up my only sxs hammergun to send off to its new owner. As if I wasn't missing it enough already.

Last year at NRA Whittington, Vintagers shoot, I shot better on the warm up Friday, with my Elsie Hammer gun, than I did in the real deal on Saturday. I shot a round with my hammer Greener yesterday, and was amazed at how much better it shoots than I can! Dont matter, they are all wonderful....

I've reread that post several times and each time I come up with the LCS guy winning when the parker failed. Am I missing something?
