Hi All,
I am primarily a hunter, but shoot some of the clay games for fun and practice. I mostly shoot SxSs and O/Us, with an occasional Browning A5 thrown into the mix. I am getting to the point in my shotgun shooting that I would like to have a good fitting done. I live in northern Virginia, but am willing to do some driving.
Can anyone recommend a good gunfitter that's close enough to the northern Virginia or Baltimore area to be do-able in a weekend? I've consider going to Woodcock Hill in Benton, PA, which is about a 3 hour drive for me. Can anyone offer any comments on the gun fitting services offered by Woodcock Hill? Any other fitters I should consider?
TIA.

I got fitted at WH about 8 years ago and they did a nice job and I really enjoyed my time there. Glen is a character for sure and they have some great guns to look at. He did seem a bit preoccupied the day that I was there, but he had a lot going on. My best fitting was at Griffin and Howe, though both fitters were dead on with their measurements.

Kevin - Thanks for the info. What did you like better about the fitting at Griffin and Howe, especially since the final result was the same? Also, where is Griffin and Howe located?
Thanks.

WH actually only spent about 30 minutes doing the fitting. I shot a try gun at a pattern plate 8-10 times. G&H spent about four hours with me on the range shooting many clays as well as the pattern plate for about 30 minutes. I learned much from my G&H instructor about shooting, and gun fit. Because of that I walked away feeling that I got my money's worth. G&H is in NJ.

Kevin - Yes, I can see why you preferred the fitting by G&H. It sounds like it might be worth the extra effort for me to travel the further distance to G&H for a fitting. BTW, any info/experience on whether G&H bends stocks, too?

--shinbone Yes, they do it all at their store in Bernardsville, NJ. The fitting will be done at their Hudson Farm, north of there. There is a good article on them in a fairly recent SS magazine. There is lots of info on the web on them and you can also view there services/guns off their site.
