I would like to know what anybody thinks about these shotguns. The seam to be a pretty good price, or do you think for the money there are better side by sides out there. Do they compare to the older Ugartecheas. Thanks your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I forgot to say they sell for $2,195 at Lion Country Supply, but I have found one that the seller wants $1,150 for it. I know little about Ugartechea any information would be helpful.

As an individual that admittedly has purchased virtually every one of my high end firearms used, I could never justify paying those prices for that model.

I personally spent some time searching just a few years ago, (prices were about the same as they are now), and was able to pick up this Uggie, which is most comparable to a grade IV, for $1250.

Ugartechea has always made quality guns. Ofcourse, any maker can have lemmons. Although Lion doesn't mention it, I think possibly beginning with the grade III, it may have chopper lump barrels. I have five with c-lumps and all have good POA.

Double barrel guns are in a depressed market right now. $1150 could be on the high side, less so if it is a 20 ga.

JRH, that's not a very good comparison; you got an exceptional deal!

You might pose the question on Shotgunworld in the Spanish section and see what those guys think.

Ugartechea seems to be an under rated brand, IMO. Try reading Terry Weiland's "Spanish Best" for a very good history and accunting of the brand, as well as other Spanish makes. They have historically been the arch rival to AyA, and although they certainly have turned out guns to the American price market, they also make several lines of excellent higher end guns. I think that's a pretty good price (the $1,150 gun you found) for that particular model. I have a number of Spanish guns, including this brand, AyA, and three of the older higher grade Victor Sarasqueta guns. Two of my Ugartechea guns are their highest models, direct clones of Merkel 303 sidelock O/U's. I also own a Merkel 303, and side by side, the Ugartechea "copies" are better made in every respect. They just don't bring as much, and that's in your favor. The old adage "Buy the gun, not the name" certainly applies here. Because they do seem to bring less than the better known Spanish brands such as AyA, you're $$ ahead. They will give excellent service.
