1 pound 3 oz. difference for two inches of barrel? That wood must be super dense on the 30" gun
There can be several other differences to account for the weight. The 30" gun likely has a wider spacing of the firing pins & a taller standing breech allowing a heavier wall section around the chamber, which may well continue with a thicker wall for the full length. I have a 30" bbl'd Lefever which weighs 8lb & a 28" bbl'd one @ 6½lbs. There is a small difference in the weight of stock & action combined, but the vast difference falls within the bbls themselves.
