Just won a low bid auction on Gunbroker for a Crescent Empire 60 hammerless sxs. It has a damascus pattern imprinted on the barrels according to the owner. My research shows that Crescent manufactured this model from 1928-1932 or so -- well after Damascus shut down. Owner says they are fluid steel barrels. I have also seen an American Gun Co. SxS with similar appearance barrels that are factory stamped as Genuine Armory Steel. My question is, did Crescent make the Empire 60 with a fake Damascus pattern on the barrels as a factory option? I know they are clunkers, but I still enjoy fooling with them!

So Pete,
Do you think it is possible that the barrels are actually Damascus?

Oscar many sellers, either knowingly or not say that a damascus barreled gun is fake damascus to sell it.

I just called the seller and he said that the barrels are "definitely not Damascus". When I asked if they were stamped as fluid steel, he said "no". This is after having asked about the Damascus issue prior to bidding. I honestly cannot tell by the pictures on the GB site. My reference texts make no mention of Damascus barrels being available on the Empire 60.

From what I can see in the photo they look like blued steel that has a lot of wear to me.

Like Mike, the pictures don't look like Damascus at all,to me. Not real or fake. The description callem them a "damascene pattern" suggest the seller doesn't have a clue.
