I seem to have lost a few of my "unknown" pictures in the last crash. If you have a rifle by this maker and I think a member here does, please let me know as I have more info to work with on this unknown maker.

This rifle has some of the characteristics of the two rifles you pictured. I do not know anything about its origin. I rescued it years ago before it became a pile of parts on a gunshow table.

I am drawn to rifles that can prove that they have had a job. And this rifle definitely has had a job! The checking on the forend is worn to point that it is almost smooth.

This rifle did not spend its life between hunting seasons in a gun cabinet awaiting another show time "deer season".

The last picture shows that many of these old working guns cleanup quite well.

Darn, What a shame, many rifles are lost twice, once when they are broken and again when they are repaired. Nails, screws, rawhide and glue!!! It could be the same maker, that bolt knob flattened and checkered on top is not something I see very often. The rifle at the top belongs to your friend Mr. Hudson whose email I have lost along with everyone else. What is the serial number of your rifle and please post some more pictures.

Fascinating rifles - I love the unknown part. Are you getting close on this guy Michael? The side pannels remind me (a little bit) of Adolph or Wundhammer while that s-curve is very single-shot influenced.

Not sure if I'm making any headway or not but now know of about six of these rifles. The latest one with the Kornbrath engraving has "WIBEHER" written in pencil in the barrel channel and hard to read according to the owner so it may be something else. I have a copy of Kornbrath's customer addresses and nothing close. I have about a thousand custom rifles in a database from "Arms and the Man" and "American Rifleman" but nothing matches the initials on the rifle, sometimes I get lucky. The rifles that I have good info on are all Springfield so the gunmaker MAY have been east of the Mississippi.
