Hi all, just was wondering what any owners (past or presnt)think about these guns (any model)? I'm just curious to know what your opinion of them are, good and bad points.

Ay comments would be great!

All the best!

Greg

Hello Greg,

There have been threads covering these doubles before and from what I remember
only good things were said about them.

If I remember right Jim Legg has/had one in 20 gauge.

Greg, I've owned several V. Bernardellis. All were hammerless, all good guns. I had a chance to play with a couple hammerguns, a 12 and a 20. Also very nice. Probably about the best value on the used market in modern hammerguns.

I have an Itlia model 12ga hammer gun. V. Bernardelli sidlock with nickel sidelock faced engraved ,wonderful sharptail gun for sale if interested! I used it for many years in Dakota, a most relable gun for the upland. I replaced it with a D grade Parker hammer gun.V. Bernardelli will shoot any modern ammo and can be used at any vintage shoots.

Very good guns, IMO. I had one in 12 ga. Shot it very well and wish I had kept it.

I had one for a while, a 12 gauge Italia if I recall correctly, and liked it very much. It was nicely finished, although the wood was somewhat plain. Worked reliably the entire time I owned it. One of the nice features was that you could cock both hammers with one motion, which allowed me to shoot low gun skeet and cock the hammers after I called for the bird. Got a lot of "how do you do that?" type comments, since few of the guys at my club are sxs shooters and even fewer shoot hammer guns. I foolishly sold it when in the thrall of some other gun I couldn't live without. I now own an I. Hollis 10 gauge hammer gun and an Austrian 16 gauge hammer gun, neither of which I'd ever have considered had not the Bernardelli experience been so much fun.

I own a field grade VB "Brescia" boxlock 16 with 27" cyl/full bbls. that was made in the early 1930s. It has been an excellent field gun that has never bobbled, once I figured out how to use the hammers. Have owned several hammerless boxlock VBs and found them very satisfactory for the money. The 12s are a little chunky for my liking.

My first Hammer was a 'Delli....great shooting gun, kinda plain wood, not great engraving..but a good strong "Modern Gun", good for factory loads, mine was a 28" 12 @ 7lb 3oz, most pleasant to shoot with my 1oz reloads.
Sold it to get my Greener Hammer.
The "Italia Extra" is , I believe, a pretty fancy grade above the Brescia & Italia, lovely wood & very nice engraving...though I've never seen one...but would like to
cheers franc
