A friend wants to buy his son an O/U for Christmas. He would like to spend $1000.00 max. 12 or 20 ga, new or used. What can he expect to purchase with these requirements? His son wants to shoot occasional clays and probably won't use it for hunting. What would you guys recommend? Thanks, Chris

With that price restriction a used SKB or Ruger is about it for anything in good condition. It used to be the Turkish guns were turkies but they have improved to the point that they make an OK gun that will last but trade value will be low.

Thanks for the replies. What is a 12ga Browning 325 Sporting Clays gun worth, and is it a good gun? Thanks, Chris

SKB Model 500 20ga, three-inch chamber, is all he'll ever need---generally. It's easily in his price range, a great gun. Choked IC/M, it's no handicap on grouse, decoyed ducks and geese. SST, too.

I have a Browning Model 425 Grade 1 in excellent condition for sale. I was advised that a fair price for it is $1000. I expect that a Browning Model 325 of the same condition would be worth about the same amount.

I'd sure be on the lookout for a used 686 Beretta...believe it's the best gun at the low end.

I'd sure consider the Miroku made Chas. Dalys.

I am with Kate and Jessie. A used Citori works well. Good luck.
