According to Greener records, Greener #68708 circa 1930 was built an F-75 which agrees with the engraving. However the markings on the trigger guard tang shows "Special Grade". Can anyone explain the discrepancy in this gun? It is 100% original.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

If you contact Graham Greener through the W W Greener web site and give him the details and serial number he will reply with all the origional info on the gun, you should also give him your name and adress as he may also be keeping a record of where thier guns are nowdays. He is a very nice guy and very helpful

Your gun appears to be a "Presentation" grade sometimes called Exhibition or Special grade. I don't see any descrepancy because of the engraving on the tang. These are the very highest quality Greeners built. I can't see the engraving well enough to tell if it is an Imperial or a higher grade. My guess is that you have an F-70 Imperial or possibly an F-90. The serial number indicates the first gun of 196 guns built in 1930. At any rate you have a very nice Greener and I'm guessing very proud to own it.

Older Doc' Ihave been asked if the 'Oil Tank' is an Original'Seems that there is a Repro on the market(Somewhere) Have you looked at the markings on the underside? I was told an 'Original'sold in London at One of the "BIG" Auctions, and is being used for the pattern for the'Repros' the 'New' ones dont have the correct markings on the base.(But for 'Brit' 125.00.pounds!!!!'WOT ME WORRY"!
