This may not be the appropriate place to ask this but the folks on this forum know more about the old stuff.
I am in need of one of the following 3/4" .22 scopes: a Redfield Sport-STER 4X Rimfire, or a Browning 4X Rimfire(actually the same scope), or a Weaver J4.
Email me if you wish.

I have a little 3/4" Weaver G-4, would that work?

Thanks, Michael. I am not familiar with the G4, but the J4 is an undated and higher quality scope according to information I can find. I really prefer the Redfield but would consider the J4.

J4 is basically an updated 440, as J2.5 was an updated 330. Bigger lenses. J4 central tube is longer than the Redfield, gives you a bit more mounting flexibility. Would say that the Redfield is somewhat better optically, but doubt you would notice much difference except perhaps in marginal light conditions. I have a J4 on a Marlin 39A but don't think I have a Redfield any more to compare it with.
