I am looking to buy an over and under that I can use for trap shooting. I figure I can afford around $2500. I have been on both of the web sites for William Larkin Moore and Double Eagle Trading and they both have some nice guns. Double Eagle has Winchesters, Classic Doubles, CVC, and some others. WLM has a couple of Browning Superposed trap guns from $950 to up around $2000. I know about Browning's reputation for quality, but I also know they used salt cured wood for about six years from 65 to 71. So, I am a little leary. He doesn't list the serial numbers. have any of you dealt with either of these firms? And if so, what were you findings

Suggest you also look at Jaqua's Fine Guns (Jaquas.com) in Findlay OH. They are in the heart of trapshooting country, and probably have several hundred trap guns at any point in time. Good, honest people. I called them after buying a rifle from them to point out that they didn't describe the gun accurately - It was better than they said

I have conducted several transactions with WLM and can say they are extremely honest, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with.
I don't live in Scottsdale anymore and still make a point of going to their shop anytime I am in the Phoenix area.
By the way, I also bought my Superposed from them. They seem to have an affinity for them and usually have a great selection.

The guys at WLM are very gun smart. I believe they will give you an honest opinion, based on removing a couple of screws from appropriate positions and thoroughly examining them for traces of salt wood problems, if you simply ask them to do so. They will also quite likely state to you if the serial number falls within the known range of problem guns. The are honest and reputable dealers, based on my buying three guns from them over several years. They have been around for some time, and have a good reputation to protect. They know how to do so.

Chris Showler at Eagle Trading is a stand-up guy. Fine man to do business with.

Ditto the good things that have been said about William Larkin Moore & Sons.
I have had several transactions with them over the past 15 years. They are honest and fair. I would have no hesitation dealing with them and would trust their word.

Bill Moore and his sons, Dan and Dave, are the most honest and straightforward gun dealers I have ever dealt with. I have bought and sold numerous guns there and they are a pleasure to deal with.

Don't know Eagle Trading co but have known the Moore's for quite sometime. I trust their word on the guns they are selling and I know they stand behind what they sell. Great guys.

Thumbs up for WLM & sons...be sure to ask for specific information, such as the salt issue. They have been good to me.
