Apparently, my reference to the fact that the highest and best use of a double rifle is on dangerous game, where two independent rifle systems, located side by side to among other things speed reloading under duress, are required, including therefore two independent trigger systems, was somehow misinterpreted by one of our members as a slight to the handicapped.
Live and learn. Good man? Hmmmm

Carom! Some of these threads just take a life of their own, and bent feelers aside, provide insights never drempt of. All I can say is that it is a very small world in some senses and a very large one in others and should you, Leo, have the inclination to try a bit o' powder pigeon at dusk one afternoon when the season has waned with a Chapuis that shoots shot only, I'd be most accommodating, particularly since you'd made such a kind remark about a run at helice I'd made when I'd flinched into a veritible succession of 'em .. blind hog therom, you know.

And to Eug., I owe a great debt for sharing a view of Persimmon that was altogether unknown to me before.

And to our friends, Ted, Lowell, PFD, et. al., it is near impossible sometimes to 'read' a post correctly .. or said another way, to not read into it something that was never there at all. I don't know that any of us possesses the talent to never err and not from time to time be mistaken. This is, I think, one of those threads where it wanders a bit and touches at least a couple of other 'balls' and yet does not necessitate scoring any points for one side or the other, yet we all learn a bit along the way .. at least I do. Thanks, gentlemen, for that .. and I'm most pleased you decided to kiss that frog, Leo.

Any SxS needs two triggers be it a rifle or shotgun. They built single triggers for those too uncoordinated to use two triggers, or those two slow to remember to move their trigger finger to the second trigger or those too slow to count to two.

Just like pump guns had to be replaced by autos for those too dumb to shoot them sisngle triggers had to be invented for you know who. You know how hard it is for some to learn, bang...shuck...bang...shuck...Mark. Instead you hear, bangbangbang, damm it, Mark.

Yes, and all the 9.3 X 74 rifles in the world were, of course, designed for use on ONLY dangerous game, by only the non-handicapped, or young.
I am reminded of Dale's quote to Chip, "No, no, you first, I insist!".
Best,
Ted
