My RBL seems to be loosing diamonds from the checkering in the forend excessively. Either its the laser cut or the highly figured wood but they sure are fragile. Might be my suede gloves doing the harm too. Any suggestions?

I'd ask them to replace the forend. I seem to recall someone else commenting that they had "overcooked" the laser-cut checkering. What you're seeing shouldn't happen.

Thanks Jim- I doubt I'll ask them to do that. Just for reasons of conservation if not because its all "my gun" now after 3 years in the grouse woods. And, the checkering isnt that great when its right. It is a darn shame though. The shotgun is nearly perfect for me in function and dynamics and it is only around the "niceties" that CSMC seems to have gone off course. I guess thats the type of thing launch editions are intended to work through. In any event-I'd advise others to atleast add finish to the wood to reduce the likelyhood of snagging off points.

Some have recut the checkering on their RBL's and they look good in pictures. Never seen a recut one in person. I would guess that the old cyanoacrylate glue trick would work to strengthen the points after they have been recut, maybe even before.

Anybody know whether CSMC laser cuts the checkering before or after wood finishing?
