Any one notice this gun for sale on Track of the Wolf's site? I have a twin to it and have a good time shooting it.I purchased mine for way less than what they are asking and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of these guns and their value.

Mike

-Had experience with a 12 gauge, nicely made sidelock with damascus barrels that was marked" Manhattan Arms". Information exchanged here years ago helped identify it as made by Sauer. These guns were apparently imported by Schoverling (sp?) & Daly around the turn of the century. Hopefully, folks with more info will respond.

That is a lot of shotgun in very well preserved condition. Probably Sauer or Lindner. At a gun show in this area, that gun would be gone. I doubt seriously that the stock is "American Walnut" or that it is marked "Fine Twist". Obviously the seller is not making a specialty of this type of gun. Someone should bite the bullet. No mention of the bores that I remember, but if they are good, the gun is good.

Battle - -simply go to Google for the Wolf site. When you arrive, go to "make your selection", then to "guns", then to "cartridge shotguns."

This AM, I revisited the gun and it sure looks like the Sauer made 12 gauge I'm acquainted with. I'd underscore Murph's comments about appeal. It has it - and the forementioned 12 gauge sure had it. I would expect this gun to go fast, perhaps helped by these posts.

Best of Luck.

(Bores good, some pitting)

Mine is marked fine damascus on the top rib. It has 2 and 7/8 chambers and feels light for a 10 guage. Not bad to carry at all.

That is a much finer gun then the Manhatten Arms Co. guns pictured in the SD&G 1912 catalogue. In 1912 the hammerless Manhatten Arms Co. double appears to be a Hunter Arms Co. Fulton, and the hammer guns look like they came from H&D Folsom.

I did a good job cranking myself up for this one and it is in the mail. Track staff relayed enough info from the barrel flats and water table for me to conclude the gun is Sauer made. Bores were described as very nice, bright with a small amount of light pitting forward of the forcing cones. We shall see what we shall see.

Mike - what's the serial range on yours? Wonder if this same style Manhattan Arms/Sauer was made in 16 gauge? And Mike, thanks for bringing the gun to my attention - - I'm a sucker to damascus 10s. And Murph, thanks for the "someone should bite the bullet" comment. In this case, I did.

Congratulations. The website was very easy, but they had no chance to sell that great gun from the site. The last one of those Manhattan guns I saw at Allentown had a S,D,& G buttplate to die for. I hope yours does too. Look for Lindner marks just in case. Murphy
