Saw a boxlock today with his name on it. Never heard of one. It had Belgian proofs with no date code letter, but the way the chokes were marked, I think it is 1910-24. Nice gun but probably .002-3 off face.

I googled the name but couldn't come up with anything.

It sounds like a dealer's name, but I am not near my books at the moment. Post a few pictures. You can look up the proof marks here:

Thanks Pete. It's at a local dealers so I don't have pics. I think you maybe correct. Seems a number of times a Belgian has a German name on it....if it is a German name. It's a really well crafted gun, lots of engraving and dolls head.

Oh, and Braunschweig was continued after the name.

Pieper was originally from what is today Germany. German is one of the 3 official languages today in Beligum. Names like Franken, Lunenloss, Kaufmann, Strignard, Scholberg, etc are part of the Belgian gun trade history. And this does not include the Walloon influence.

I had one in my hands today that sounds very similar. It had some wording on the barrels that I will try to get a pic of. Krupp tubes with P and X inspector marks which looks like it dates it to late 50's to early 60's.

It also had a mark I do not see listed anywhere, it is an "R" with a backwards "R" merged with it on the left side..back-to-back if you will, anyone seen this?

Best,
Mark
