I have aquired an Ithaca 16 double with single selective trigger and 2 sets of barrels numbered to the frame. One set is fluid steel and 32 inch and the other set is beautiful damascus. The gun cost me $850 and im wondering whether or not its worth putting any money into a 16 ga. I thought it was a 20 when i bought it at a dimly lit gun show.If not i want to get rid of it

SN 211464, New butt stock fitted but not finished or checkered. Bluing on the fluid steel barrels is good to excellent. Case is good on the frame. Fore end is original and could use freshing of the checkering and refinishing.

AN Ithaca with that SN would be most likely a FLUES model. If it is without any border engraving it is probably a field grade gun. 16ga is not to be dismissed as they do have a following and bring a premium even. The value of you gun as describe would depend on the condition of the damascus barrels and the quality of the wood used in the replacement stock. Also the demensions offered by that stock. If you could post quality pictures there are members here that could better evaluate you gun. This said, in my very humble opinion, your price paid maybe makes it a project gun for you alone if you are interested in doing the work yourself. If you post those pictures you could prove me terribly wrong though!

Ithaca double serial number 211464 would be a Flues Model if hammerless, or a NIG Model if a hammer gun, from 1911. The gauge and grade will be stamped near the front of the left side watertable (flat part of the receiver the barrels close down against). In that era the lowest grade gun that was catalogued with Damascus barrels was the No. 1 1/2. We need to see some pictures to really offer you much help.

In those early years of the Flues Model Ithaca built many of their 16-gauge guns extremely light weight, and these very light weight guns have a reputation for very thin barrels and frames that cracked when North American Nimrods began feeding them a steady diet of Super-X type shells in the 1920s.

As I have no use for it and will never live long enough to restore it it is on the block . Also, not mentioned as well as singe selective trigger it is an ejector gun. I have no use for it.
