I picked up a Navy Arms 12Ga. Double made by Pietta. I`m thinking this is an older gun. I found one at one of the auctions sites and mine looks nothing like the newer models. For one thing the serial #`s on the newer models are 5 digit. Mine is a letter and 2 digits. I`m wanting to do some research on it and was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction or offer any info you might have. It`s black powder only, with hammers. Other than that it`s a typical BP double.

Does it have Italian proof marks? If it does, then there is a date code.

O.K. first off the N50 isn`t the serial #. On the newer guns the serial # is on the side of the barrel in the same place the N50 is stamped. When I took the barrels off I found the serial # and is KGxxxx. I also found what I believe your talking about Pete. Check out the pics.

Are we talking about a muzzle loader? Your post isn't clear. Pietta makes/made muzzle loaders. They are less well made than the Pedersoli but still serviceable guns. What do you expect to learn from the serial numbers, etc.?

There isn't much information out there on a Pietta, Navy Arms brought them in as well as Dixie Gun Works along with the standard Pedersoli. CVA brought in Spanish makers. They are alot fun when you get the mechanics down of loading them.
