Any opinions or experience with the Remington 32? Was this designed as a clays gun and not so much hunting? Pros and cons? How does it compare to a Superposed? Thanks.

The Remington 32 was designed and built long before Sporting Clays was even dreamed of. It came along about the time skeet was invented. My guess is that it was more intended for the target shooting market than for the hunting masses.

Hello Hoser,
Are you trying to start a fight?

The Remington 32 is the darling of many, a wonderful old shotgun. Kinda copied by the Krieghoff 32, it is a heavy gun but one of great merit.

The Browning Superposed is the queen mother of many, a wonderful old shotgun. Everyone has tried to copy the Superposed, no on has accomplished that feat. Miroku got close and was sued by Browning :>)

They compare like apples and oranges.

I LIKE the Rem 32, what a sweet gun, I do not presently own one, but do have a Krieghoff 32.

I have a number of Superposed 12, 16, 20, 28 and 410 and really like shooting them.

Both great guns

Mike

Sort of a Super[com]posed. There was as least one 16 from FN, wasn't there?

OK, but to call it a 16 gauge Superpose is misleading and the gun is counterfeit.

hoser,
The pros are that the Rem 32 was well made for target shooting and had good weight/balance for the job. The cons mainly are that it's an old gun and parts are either not available or have to be made or modified from Krieghoff parts.

As an old semi-collectable, moderate/light volume shooter, I think they're great. As a serious, high volume target shooter, I'd pick a current production, K-gun, P-gun, or B-gun.

BTW, the Krieghoff 32 is the resurection of the Remington 32 after Krieghoff purchased the design rights from Rem. The K-80 is the renamed version that was slightly upgraded around 30 yrs ago. The one K-80 I owned never missed a beat in the few yrs I had it. The only negative to me was that it was slightly heavier than I would call "ideal" for me. I had a 28" skeet gun and it was too heavy with a 32" barrel for me, so I sold it and bought a 1/2 lb lighter gun with a longer barrel for my sporting clays shooting.

I shoot Supers, Remington 32s, and Kreighoffs. The Remington 32 is still repaired by Larry Del Grego and Son in Ilion, New York. I wouldn't buy a Remington 32 with a non working single trigger, but otherwise it is an OK gun for shooting. It is hard to compare any over under with the Super, a gun that can be bought in high condition for a thousand bucks or less and would cost five to ten times that to be built from scratch. Of course, I have just as high an opinion about the Kreighoff.

I have four of them and one has been shot a BUNCH and one of the others has been shot quite a bit. I have broken one cocking rod which Larry Del Grego promptly fixed. I've never had a problem with any of the single triggers. I do have a separate set of skeet barrels that, when purchased in 1962, did not have any extractors. The gunsmith put in Kreighoff extractors and they have worked that way ever since. One thing that's probably unique to the time period of their manufacture is that the four range from fairly early to one of the last and all five sets of barrel will interchange on any of the actions. In fact a few years ago I took a brand new set of K-80 barrels and put it on one of the trap guns with its forearm and shot it. It worked perfectly.
