I have a 1939 vintage Ranger 12 ga double which is the Fulton Special made by Hunter Arms. It's in excellent condition 90% CC and blue with 30" mirror barrels. I plan on selling locally (NC) and I am wondering what would be a fair price to expect from a dealer ? Thanks in advance for your input.

Blue Book says $650 for a Fulton Special, 90%. That's likely what a dealer would sell it for, which means you shouldn't expect much over about $400 selling to a dealer.

Hunter made two versions of the Fulton. They are identical externally but the "Fulton Special" has a rotary lock up like the L C Smith and Fox. The other has a wedge that slides into the barrel extension. The one with the rotary lock up brings a premium but they are fairly uncommon and I don't know how much the premium is.

You're confusing 2 models there, Twice. The Fulton Special is simply a standard Fulton with a few extra bells & whistles. It's the Hunter Special (which did not appear until the 30's and apparently didn't sell very well) that had the Smith's rotary top bolt.

You are correct it is the Hunter Special that has the rotary lockup.

I think Larry has the value pegged pretty well, they dont bring a lot of money. When in good shape they are good guns. I like them, and have a few. I sent a 16 to Wennigs, and had it restocked, I have way too big an investment in it, good shooter. 400-650 sounds about right.
