Looking at buying a BC Miruko sxs but the choke designations are a little weird. I thought Miruko used the same marking as Browning but this one has a barrell marked MOD and one marked IMP the IMP one is the right barrell. Is the right barrell not usually the tighter of the two chokes on a SXS? If so could this IMP mean IMP MOD? This could be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for any help>

No, the right barrel is usually the more open barrel, expected to be shot first, in most situations. I'd say your left barrel is Modified and the right is Improved Cylinder, A very common combination on your Miroku and other doubles.

If it's Imp Mod, you can always have it opened. These guns have been around long enough that many have already been "adjusted" by previous owners, so mic the chokes if you can. These are great guns for the money, so $45 to open one choke shouldn't be a deal breaker if the gun is priced fairly.

Miroku didn't go with Browning choke markings until they started making guns marked "Browning". Agree with Jim. "IMP" should be improved cylinder.
