English Side lock or Hammer guns with double triggers and splinter fore arm with 30 or 32" barrels. With out choke I don't give them a second look.

Double triggers, 28" barrels, 16ga preferred, modest pistol grip or POW, no beavertails, and I like field grade guns that look like they have some stories to tell.

There's a difference between my tastes and my pocketbook. I love my old Bernadelli's. I like DTs, fixed chokes, English or POW grip, ejectors optional as I will disconnect them anyway. I prefer the barrels to be 28"s or longer and the weight on my 12s 7.5, under 7 for the 16s, 20s around 6.25, 24 & 28s around 6 or a little less. And prices under 2K.

I like 28 inch side lock hammerguns with 2 triggers, splinter fore ends POW grip and extracters. If it doesn't have damascus barrels I have no space for it in my safe. :Mike

I like most of the features others have listed above. 28-30" barrel, two triggers, extractors, straight grip or POW equally well, pretty wood, two ivory beads, recoil pad, fixed chokes, fairly heavy(7-1/2 to 7-3/4 lbs in 12 gauge,6-1/2 to 7 in 28) as I probably shoot 1000 or more clay targets to every shot in the field and I don't walk very far, even then. Love the look of sidelocks, nice Damascus, and most important, how it fits me and feels in action. I love 28 gauges! Also love Lefevers (Syracuse model) I forgot to include a manual(adult model) safety. Lefevers have the problem solved with an easy choice, one of their several brilliant ideas.

The beauty of a youth model safety is how easily it converts to the adult model.
I guess I haven't thought that hard about which I prefer.
Best, Ted

A quality but not necessarily big name English or German gun of at least 100 years, hammers, damascus, at least 50% coverage of tasteful engraving, and some flame to the wood.

Well, there's plenty I like:
- Vintage English and modern Italian side by sides - Sidelocks: hammerless or hammergun - Boxlocks: either round actions, Westley Richards' droplock, or scalloped actions - Prefer 20 gauge guns, but 12 is fine too - Barrels: 28-30 inches, fluid steel or damascus (I really like to see damascus on hammerguns) - Stock: Nice marbled figure in the wood, English grip - Engraving: Prefer a nice delicate scroll pattern like Holland's Royal scroll or Purdey's rose and scroll.

Hello All Been thinking about this post a long time. Here is my answer, not a flip one, but a thought out one.
I like the one in my hands while I am shooting/hunting.
I like guns, but I love to shoot them.
Whether it be the single trigger Baker Paragon, the Grade 3 L.C. Smith, The classy spanish girls, the swarthy german girl, or even the 10 gauge NID. Many are engraved, some have awesome wood, and I only keep the ones that fit me.
I am sitting here in my gun room and looking at all the prettys, they talk to me and argue over who will go with me this Thursday to the skeet range, and this Saturday to the sporting clays festival. My mind is still not made up.
Y'all have the same problem/joy? Enjoy the day Mike
