I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmass and santa brought you all you wished for. I asked Santa for RBL and gosh I got it on order. Exibition Claro wood, double trigers, English stock and case hardened receiver. I would appreciate your expertly opinions on type of the wood I should specify. I ordered exibition wood in Claro. I am not sure what is the diference between choices of the wood you can have for RBL. While placing the order I asked few questions as far as waiting time and I was told that approximately 1.5-2 years. Lady also said that they will stop taking orders at end of the month and try to catch up with the production. I asked if price is going up. Answer was that she had no information about price increase. No answer on the question about future gauges or 16 gauge barrells for current gun. I would appreciate if you guys educate me on subject of the diferent type of walnut so I have some idea what did I ordered. Thanks in advance.

Exhibition grade wood will/should be "gorgeous" in all types. For what it's worth I ordered, and received, American black walnut for no other reason than "American" wood felt better on an American made sxs.

I went for American for two reasons: (1) As Keith said above, it is an American gun and I wanted American wood; (2) You'll get a lot more bang for your buck with American wood, especially if it's upgraded. As Tony Galazan pointed out to me last year at Vegas, "exhibition" turkish for a RBL is not nearly the wood that would go into a $20,000 gun. But the American exhibition comes a lot closer.

I got exhibition claro on mine, it ships out today . I'll post some pics when I get it. When I ordered I asked them which wood had the most figure, they immediately told me to go with Claro, we'll see when it gets here!

That is what they told me so that is why I went with Claro. I would love to see some pictures of few RBL with American Walnut. Like I said I am totaly oblivious on the subject of type of the wood. This is my first time I dared to go for gun with posibility to choose high grade wood. Thank you all for reply.

Unbelievable. How would you upgrade this any higher. I would sel my soul for wood like that. I will change Claro to American walnut. I felt little guilty for spending $3500.00 for the gun but I feel guilty no more. I am afraid that I have to order few more because when I die my granchildren will wage a war amongst them for this gun.

I think American black walnut on average is a little stronger than claro too.
Notice on Keith's gun that Galazan customized the choke tube case? It reads "Connecticut Shotgun Marine Corps"!!
Good Shooting,
C.
