I just received a NID model Ithaca 12 gauge. I'd appreciate any help with the date of manufacture of my gun. In the photo I blotted out the last two digits of the serial number. Thanks for any help.

1926 By the home page listings. I have one that falls somewhere between 1925 numbers and 1926 w/ a serial of 432XXX? Its not as nice as yours, but it is my new favourite even edging out the Fox I recently acquired. Very solid and just under seven lbs, the weight I like. I would have the chokes opened but the smith I was hoping to begin working with has fallen short on my expectations with another gun.

Ken Eyster in Centerburg, OH has a great reputation for barrel work and is in your part of the country. I haven't had any work done by them, but I hadn't heard any bad reports.

Thanks for the info Kurt. I assume that the F stands for field grade? I haven't had the chance to weigh mine yet but it feels a bit chunky compared to my Flues, but I like the flowing contours of the NID receiver better. Not having to buy special low pressure ammo will be nice too. I just need to fit it with a recoil pad to lengthen the stock a bit and she'll be ready for dove season.
