A good place to start would be to take the bbl. off & using a piece of hard wood or delrin held firmly against the standing breech pull the trigger and then measure the amount of firing pin protrusion, it sould be a minimum of .040 inch for good ignition. Also look at the firing pin's face [end] to see if it shows any signs of pitting or errosion. If the protrusion is less than .040 the problem could be accumulated gunk & powder build up on the action's inside holding the firing pin back from the inside. Take the buttstock off & give the action a through soak/cleaning and then relubricate; methods for that were just discussed on another recent thread.
Another possibility could be 'hard' primer cups in the ammunition you are using. In any case, if the gun has a lot of rounds through it or its history is unknown a good strip & clean will be beneficial w/no harm done at all. Any qualified gunsmith should be able to do that for you if you are uncomforable doing it yourself.
I would be surprised if the problem is the hammer spring, but it might.
For SKB info, I would contact Chris Schowler(sp?)w/Eagle Trading; they are an advertiser here & he is a good guy to do business with.
