Can anyone tell me the difference between the Ithaca SKB 200e and the 280 e? Also is there a 220 e?

The 280 is a straight grip, 200 a pistol grip.
Not aware of a 200.

Couple of other differences: the 200E's had two different receivers, one of which was silver nitride with scroll. You won't find that one on a 280. You will also find 280's, at least in 20ga, with both barrels choked IC. I've never seen a 200E choked that way, although it was made in skeet configuration (manual safety, both barrels choked skeet).

And in both cases, the E suffix is superfluous. Stands for ejectors, and all 200's and 280's were ejector guns.

Larry, Does the "E" spaced behind the 280 not stand for "English" as in "English style straight grip"? The "E" is not part of the model # as it is in the 200E.

Correct Don. The E in 280 means English stock; although it has ejectors. The 280E Quail Special has 100% coverage fine scroll chocked IC/MOD.

If I am not badly mistaken, the "Quail Special" had both barrels choked improved clyinder. I studied them long and hard before I bought a 280E in 1976 for $360 out the door.

Tyler---you are right. The Quail Special was bored IC in both barrels. It also had quail engraved on both sides of the receiver amidst the scroll!

I think the correct designation for the 280 is "280 English", although it's typically written 280E. Might be correct to put a space in there, but because of the E attached to the 200, it's confusing. Would have been better if they'd left it off the 200, since all 200's are ejector guns.

It got even more confusing in the late 80's, when SKB sxs were brought in under their own name. On those guns, the "200E" was an English-stocked gun. There's certainly enough difference that you can tell them from the previous, Ithaca-imported guns even without the PG vs straight stock. Those 80's guns were game scene engraved on a coin-finished receiver and had factory choke tubes. But if someone is advertising a "200E" without photos or sufficient explanation, there could be confusion between two very different guns.

Fine scroll engraving and the quails on the side. It was choked ic/mod but it doesn't say 'Quail Special'. Maybe it's not
