Oh Boy! Christmas Eve,2.30pm,we had just been told by Harry Lawrence(Who did stay for a Quick DB Jonny Walker) to get back to the "Factory',3 mins. from the Pub. to pick up our 'Pay-Packets" all cash at that time, And 'Get the Hell Away from the Factory" at least for the next 4 days!!!To read more about the 'Drinking Habits of Purdey Gunmakers' See'Purdeys, by Richard Beaumont" 'Purdeys by Donald Dallas. The story about sending the 'Beer Bucket down on a rope to the Apprentice on the Wharf, and after he had it filled at the "Irongate Pub" it was hauled back up to the 2nd floor workshop for the'Gunmakers"(This was, If I'm not mistaken, in the 1920s-30s.I've recently received"From a Gunmaker in London photos of a Farewell Party at a Famous London Pub,with some "Eye Opening' Photos!! The British & Scottish Gun-Trade worked very closely with the Local Pubs. CC.
