If we had the Merkel work order for #11520, I believe we could solve the puzzle of the initials "EK" as well as the "K" in a rhombus. Merkel did tend to heavily source the Brothers Kelber so the Ks could very well be for Kelber and not Klett. But the Merkel craftsmen were sourced by many for upper rung examples.
