It looks like I'm late to the party here! I have kept a little list of 7E SBTs and to date I have identified 21. These are guns that were for sale over the years or were otherwise referenced here and there. I have serial numbers for some, but mostly not. Generally, each gun is fairly distinctive because most have been messed with, but that is beside the point. I would imagine that there were more NIDs built up as 7s than Knicks, and just knowing that there are probably at least a couple dozen Grade 7 Knicks out there, that 22 number has to undershoot the mark considerably.

A few late ones have turned up that were not recorded in the old list but only a few. Twenty-five is probably a pretty solid number. I have owned 3 twenty gauges and one or two 12 gauges that were not in trap configuration.

Walt - It is generally accepted that SBTs were but a tiny fraction of any company's output. Do you think that as one moves up the grade scale there was more parity between the SBTs and the rest of the production?

I think there are more high grade SBTs then there are doubles of the same grade, especially from the 1930s onward. Trap shooters tend to have more disposable income and SBTs were the way to go.
