I agree with Bob that the main page is slow to load. Too many large graphics images on one page. Most of your pictures are between 90k-265k bytes. that means you are loading a few meagbytes of contetnt just to view the main page.
The individual images can be easily altered to give same, or even larger sized images with comparable quality (easy with programs like Fireworks or Photoshop) and to be 1/3-1/2 of what they are now. (ie 30k-90k each)
If you tweak it a bit so that you have teaser pics/paragraphs with links to secondary content pages, and possibly with the various subjects/images (maybe even with modest size thumbnail images linking to larger size pop-ups/slideshows) it would flow/load much better.
Another consideration with the sizing is that you are probably paying for, or limited by, bandwith with your ISP so that the more people view the more you pay or get cut off after your monthly limit is reached (depends on your contract so check it out).
