I and a couple of fellow club members are looking into a voice release system for both Skeet and trap.
One of the systems that we're looking at is Clay Delay.Do any of you have experience with this Brand? We're looking at the Wireless Model with several of the options so as to be able to transfer it to either Skeet 0r Trap to be able to practice without spending a lot of time rounding up someone to shoot with.
I'd appreciate learning your reaction to it.
Best Regards
Gene

Gene, although I can't speak about the Clay Delay, I can testify that a delayed release for an automatic trap is a great aid to practicing alone. I use an old Comet automatic trap that has a wireless transmitter that I clip onto my shirt pocket. The trap is programmable to allow for different lengths of time in the delay. I keep it set on three seconds. This trap is a bit unusual in that it doesn't cock until the button is pressed. The trap then cocks itself and instantly throws the clay. This takes the three seconds, which is just enough for me to get my right hand on the gun's grip and premount. I premount because that is how I compete.

I really think you will like a VOX (voice activated) release, if you're interested in being able to practice by yourself. IMO, practicing alone is the very best way because you are not distracted by anything and can focus completely on the job at hand.

Hope you get some comments from someone who has actually used the delay system you asked about.

Stan

I've had 2 Clay Delays the past 5 years and don't go to any of my ranges without one, as I am there to shoot not sit around and play cards. I had a glitch in my first one and Bill took care of it and payed freight back at no charge after I had owned it well over a year. I upgraded on my seconded one so I could do report pairs and other options. The other brand wireless I used at another club last summer compared to the Clay Delay was nothing but trash. Mike
