Gentlemen,
I am refreshing a Rem. 720 and sometime in it's past the toe of the stock chipped off. Instead of repairing the wood the owner chose to file down the buttplate and took off the bead around the perimeter as well as some of the checkering.
Below is a photo of a correct buttplate, they are made of steel. A similar buttplate was used on the 721/722 series but it was aluminum.
Since only 2000 720's were made finding an original steel one may be a problem. Does anyone know if this type of plate, made in steel, was used on any other Remington guns?
thanks, Rob
